26 Momme Silk
What does Momme mean?
Derived from the Japanese word "Momme" [mom-ee], it is a unit of measurement for the weight of silk and represents the weight in pounds of a piece of fabric sized 45 inches x 100 yards, equivalent to the length of a soccer field.
The momme value is important because the higher it is, the greater the weight and density of the silk fabric.
During the silk production process, the density and silk thread count is adjusted to control the weight of the fabric, which is also known as "momme" in Italian.
As the momme count increases, the silk threads are woven tighter, resulting in a tie that is more durable and luxurious to the touch. In addition, this superior quality allows the tie to flow beautifully and maintain a solid, substantial knot throughout the day.
